- Sharks can sense electric fields with special organs on their snout called the ampullae of Lorenzini!
- The deepest diving animal ever observed in the ocean is the Cuvier's Beaked whale! It dove to a record 2,992 meters, or 9,816 feet.
- The leatherback sea turtle is the largest sea turtle, with a shell length of 1.8 meters/6 feet, and a weight of 635 kg/1400 lbs!
- A humpback whale's song can last as long as half an hour.
- The deepest living fish we've ever found is the Mariana Snailfish, living at depths of 8,178 meters/26831 feet. Here's a video of it!

- If you put Mount Everest at the bottom of the Marianas Trench, its peak would be 7000 feet/2133.6 meters below sea level.
- Some coral colonies and sea sponges are thousands of years old!
